Atlanta Featured Fieldwork

Are you a choreographer who wants feedback on your newest dance? A writer who needs a regular meeting to help keep you motivated to write? If you’re an independent artist, no matter your art form, participating in a Fieldwork workshop can give you support to grow your work by: providing feedback, offering a solid goal, helping you find language to describe your work, and supplying a venue to showcase (informally) what you’ve created.

CORE is offering a new benefit of participating in the workshop: rehearsal time/space at CORE Studios. Because the meeting times are bi-weekly, during the same time on the weeks when there are no meetings, space will be offered on a first-come- first-serve basis, where artists sign-up to rehearse.

The Fieldwork method originated in New York over 25 years ago, and CORE has been offering Fieldwork workshops for the Atlanta arts community since 1993. The workshops will provide support, structure, and community to help artists immerse themselves fully in their creative work. The feedback method reveals how each piece is perceived by others and provides detailed information that helps artists hone their vision. By focusing on what’s happening in the work and how those choices shape the work, Fieldwork supports autonomy and authorship of each artist.

The Spring Fieldwork session will be facilitated by Ann Ritter. A native of the SC Lowcountry, Ann Ritter has lived in Atlanta for 31 years. She is an author, performer and business woman, who also teaches and practices yoga and yoga therapy. She has appeared locally with Beacon Dance Co, Ansley Park Playhouse and the Southern Order of Storytellers.

Please register here, or you can bring a check to the first session. Call (404) 373-4154 or email info@coredance.org for more information.
